Can Natrium read my emails if requested by law enforcement, court orders, or hackers?

No. Because Natrium employs strict zero-knowledge client-side encryption, private decryption keys are derived directly on your device and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers in plaintext. If our servers are seized or subpoenaed, all that exists in our database is mathematically unbreakable AES-256 ciphertext blobs. We physically and mathematically cannot decrypt your messages.

Why do I need to request access instead of signing up instantly?

Big tech email providers allow open signups, which leads to spammers and bot networks registering millions of throwaway accounts that burn IP reputation and trigger blocklists. By reviewing access requests, Natrium maintains pristine email deliverability so your important emails never land in spam folders.

Can I email people who use regular services like Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo?

Yes, absolutely. You can send and receive emails from any standard email address on the internet. Inbound and outbound emails travel over encrypted TLS transit. In addition, Natrium automatically sanitizes incoming emails and neutralizes hidden tracking pixels before you view them.

How does attachment threat screening protect my computer?

Many cyberattacks originate from weaponized attachments like invoice PDFs, office macros, or script archives. When an email with an attachment arrives, Natrium automatically inspects the file against 70+ threat intelligence engines via the VirusTotal API before allowing download, stopping malware before it touches your computer.

What happens if I lose my password or confidential ticket number?

Because of our zero-knowledge architecture, we do not have a master back-door to reset your encryption keys. When you submit your application, you receive a confidential Ticket Number that acts as your authorization key. You are urged to store your ticket number and credentials in a secure password manager.

2. Information Required for Service Delivery

Encrypted Mailbox Blobs: AES-256-GCM encrypted ciphertext blobs representing your messages and folders.
Transient SMTP Headers: Inbound and outbound standard internet mail headers required by RFC 5321 to route messages across the internet, automatically purged after delivery.

Cryptographic Impossibility: Because encryption keys are derived on the user's device and never transmitted to our servers, we possess zero technical capability to decrypt your communications or produce plaintext for third parties.

4. Data Subject Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Regardless of your geographic location, Natrium grants you full control over your digital footprint:

Right to Erasure: Deleting your account immediately triggers cryptographic shredding of your stored encrypted mailbox data and associated tokens.
Right to Portability: Export your emails and cryptographic keys at any time directly through client-side export tools.
Zero Sale of Data: Natrium does not, has never, and will never sell user data under any definition of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or European GDPR.
